I’m Eva Alarte. I write and make theatre, poetry, music and comedy, because we never know how far an idea might take us. Sometimes a poem finds its way into song; a question demands its own scene; a contradiction gives us a comedy. Those creative doorways fascinate me.

My work moves between creation, research and performance, and between countries: Spain, Italy, Greece and the United States. I hold a degree in Hispanic Philology, a PhD in Language and Culture Education, and a master’s in Theatre Creation. I have worked in universities, theatres and Instituto Cervantes centres, yet I always return to the place where words provoke us until they lift us from the page.

My work includes stage adaptations of La vida es sueño and Tartufo; original works such as Catatónica, Casting for President or Azah; dramaturgical studies such as La trampa de despertar; poetry collections including Ritmo de lucha and Compás de espera; short stories such as Downtown; and other work in research, education and translation.

AnyWayEva was born precisely from this journey, one that gives words freedom across space and time. A book can be born from a song, or become one once it finds its rhythm. A scene can open a question that changes how we inhabit the world. From there come research, writing, humour, poetry and music: different paths born of the same curiosity.

And here we are, following the paths words open before us… and discovering where they lead.
