Living poetry for understanding our everyday lives

Ritmo de lucha is Eva Alarte Garví’s first poetry collection, originally published in 2013 and reissued in 2026 for its incandescent relevance today.

It articulates a clear, direct voice, open to the conflicts of our time: the distance between individual awareness and communal life; questions about the legitimacy of striving to overcome, to understand the world and ourselves; and the need to create and move through our words as forces that shape our reality.

The book unfolds in three movements:
«Introducción de controversias»: a questioning of its very reason for being;
«Ritmo de lucha»: open struggle against an unjust, imposed reality; and
«Alma en guerra»: the inner struggle to overcome our own conscious and unconscious barriers and limitations.

This collection combines rhythmic forms and pronounced rhymes with assonance and free verse: brief compositions that move from an awakening of outward critique and resilience towards an intimate, vulnerable gaze of inward reflection.

In conversation

The public tension of this book finds its intimate counterpoint in Compás de espera. Listening continues in the Listening Room; new directions for both works appear in Letters from the Future.
